The Florida Department of Elder Affairs (DOEA) administers programs and services for elders across the state through 11 Area Agencies on Aging. DOEA's goal is to efficiently use resources to ensure the greatest number of elders spend their golden years living healthy, active, and fulfilling lives in their communities.
The Florida Senior Summit has been taking place for over 20 years. The first event in the late 90s was known as Ambassadors for Aging Day. Since that time, the annual event has navigated several name transitions, but one constant is the Department of Elder Affairs supporting the event to advocate for, and to entertain, older adults.
The annual Senior Summit highlights entertainment, celebrations, and stories from - and about - older adults throughout the Sunshine State. This year the event is taking place on the Zoom platform, allowing DOEA to collect and present even more stories and entertainment than in any of our past events.
